{look of the week}

This past week, I was reading through several of the fashion blogs that I love to follow, and I saw two posts from Katie at Running on Happiness and Sydney at The Daybook that both seemed to have a different take on the same look. I can't get enough of this retro glam look, and I adore both of these bloggers... so I have awarded them both the look of the week. I equally love Katie's fashion-forward take on a classic look, and Sydney's nod to vintage glamour.

Hope everyone has a great week.

{it's the most wonderful time of the year}

... And Christmas decorations abound at my house. I will admit that I put these up earlier than you are supposed to, i.e. the week before Thanksgiving, but I just couldn't help myself. Like many, this is my favorite time of year, and we only get a short time to enjoy them, so you can't blame a girl for wanting to squeeze an extra week in.

Looking forward to celebrating a season full of hope and joy and spending time with our wonderful family and friends.

{blog crush: me oh my}

I realized it had been a while since I had posted a blog crush, and since I'm pretty much finding new blogs to follow on a daily basis, I feel like I should play a little bit of catch up. So... I'm kind of in love with Me Oh My.

Aside from the fact that she gives me some serious house envy, Nicole Davis from Me Oh My is one of those super stylish designers and super creative moms that just seems to have her act together. We don't have any children yet, but I feel fairly certain that when we do, my house and hair won't look as good as hers. But she's genuine and full of joy, and I love love love following her blog. Oh and that chevron print from the last post that I die for?... It's hers.

Hope you'll go and check it out. Think you'll love it!

{bold prints: chevron}

I am definitely a "less is more" kind of girl. A cluttered look, whether it's an outfit or a room, is kind of a pet peeve of mine, and knowing how and when to edit is key. All you really need to do is choose one bold piece and play everything else down. You've probably heard that concept applied to a lot of things... if you're going to wear a bright lip then play down your eyes, or if you're wearing chunky earrings then don't wear a statement necklace, etc etc. And one of my favorite ways to make a statement lately has been anything in a bold chevron print.

(vase, top, canvas, wall, dress, chairs)

I think there's something about a chevron print (stripes work too) that is a great attention grabber, but is still a simple enough print to not feel like you've gone overboard. I've seen this everywhere lately, and I hope it sticks around for a while, because it's a favorite of mine and I think it's lovely.
