{dream home: via design sponge}

I saw this house recently on design sponge, and my heart just pitter pattered. It belongs to the lovely Camille Styles (whose blog is a worthwhile read), and it is the epitome of my dream house.

I think everyone's own sense of style and taste changes every so often, and I tend to bounce back and forth between things that are cozy and comfortable, things that are modern, and things that have a rustic, natural feel.  I am a city girl through and through, but the Texas hill country also holds a really special place in my heart, and my true sense of style is something that marries both of those things. I think this house captures it perfectly, and since it's in Austin, they know a thing or two about that unique Texas style. Perfect kitchen, an office that I plan to shamelessly steal ideas from one day, and a perfect balance of rustic, modern and comfortable elements.

I can't get over how much I love this house.

{last hurrah with black}

It might just be me, but even in Denver, it feels like spring is starting to make an appearance. I'll admit that one of my favorite things about winter (besides digging my car out of a foot of snow every morning, obviously) is getting to wear black day after day and no one can say anything... because it's winter. I love black, I truly do. Of course I love a little bit of color here and there all year around, but even though a lot of people think that black is uninventive, depressing, and even drab, I couldn't disagree more. I think it's both classic and modern, and oh-so-sophisticated.

( 1.2.3.4.5 )

Whether it's an edgier leather look, a dressed up and timeless LBD, or my favorite black blazer with a simple white tank, I think black is the perfect go-to color. It might be the only thing that I'll miss about winter.

On an unrelated note... due to a recent change by the kind folks at Google, I lost my followers box. I've replaced it with a followers box from the much kinder folks at Facebook. So feel free to "like" this blog instead.

Hope you've all had a great weekend!

{blog crush: fabulous k}

I've posted several blog crushes before, and I love all of them, but I am particularly excited to introduce you to Fabulous K. This is one of my absolute favorite blogs, and Kelly is one of the few bloggers that I am constantly getting inspiration from, both as a blogger and as a person.

I always know that I can expect fun, inspired, and colorful posts from her. She regularly posts design tips, fashion finds, her monthly Birchbox goodies, and on top of that, she's a pretty amazing blog designer and seems to be just a lovely person. She also just added a brand new series for the fellas, which I already love. She loves God, she's got great style, and she's a good ol' Texas girl... and that, my friends, is what I call the trifecta of awesomeness.

I've added a section to my menu for blogs that I love, some that you've heard about before, and some that you'll be hearing more about in the future. Hope you will check them out!

{color trend: deep blue}

I don't think that navy and deep blues are a go-to color for a lot of people. It never has been for me either, but I've been seeing it start to pop up all over the place, and I think it's lovelier than I thought it would be.

It's not too bright, but it still makes such a dramatic statement and there are so many colors that you can pair it with to put your own twist on it. It has great contrast against white, and even though I'm not much of a pink person, I think it looks fantastic against vibrant pinks. Have any of you ever used or thought about using so much blue in a space?

{our week in pictures}

Sorry that I haven't blogged for the past few weeks. This has been a really busy week for us, and now we're finally able to enjoy a long and restful weekend. I'll catch you up on the last week via pictures.

Even though there is still a ton of snow on the ground after the blizzard that came through a few weekends ago, and even though it has been a busy week, it has still been a great one! We got to go to Houston last weekend to see our brand new nephew Will, and he is such a precious little person. Can't wait until we get to see him again. And since this week was so busy, we wound up celebrating our Valentine's Day last night with a perfect dinner out, although the hubs did send me some beautiful flowers at work. Who doesn't love getting flowers? And when we DID have a little down time, I had the perfect magazine to lay around and thumb through, courtesy of my lovely friend Shannon who gifted me a subscription for my birthday. Best gift ever.

Hope everyone else has had a great week and had a great Valentine's Day as well.
